VNDB list & wishlist

Link your VNDB account to rate VNs, keep your VNDB list up to date as you read, and get a random pick from your wishlist.

All of this is optional. Covers and VNDB links work without an account; a token is only needed for things that touch your list.

Add your VNDB token

On vndb.org, open your profile, then Edit → Applications and create a New token.
Give it access to your list and permission to edit it. Without the edit permission, rating and sync won't work.
Paste it in Settings → General → VNDB list → Personal token and click Test. It should say Connected as <your username>.

The token is like a password for your VNDB list. Don't share it. Note that a data export contains it.

Rate a VN

On a VN's page in the Library, choose a Rating. It's sent to your VNDB list right away. The VN must be linked to the right VNDB entry: if Confirm shows next to its VNDB id, check it's the right one and click it. If it's wrong, start the game and pick the right VN with Change VN / cover….

Sync your reading status

Turn on Sync reading status to my VNDB list. Then:

VNs you start are marked Playing on VNDB.
Statuses you set in the Library (Finished, Stalled, Dropped…) are sent too.
Only VNs whose VNDB entry you picked or confirmed are synced, so a wrong match never lands on your list.

Random pick from your wishlist

Can't choose what to read next? In the Library, click Random from wishlist. The app loads the VNs on your VNDB wishlist and shows one at random.

A random pick from the VNDB wishlist: CLANNAD, 2004, rating 8.7, about 78 hours — Each pick shows its year, VNDB rating and average length (~78h here), when VNDB knows them.

Another one (or Space) draws again; VNDB page opens it on vndb.org. The desktop mascot can also make a pick from its right-click menu.

Empty? Add VNs to your Wishlist on vndb.org (the wishlist label on your list), then come back.
