Japanese locale
Many Japanese VNs show garbled text, or don't start at all, on a Windows that isn't set to Japanese. Play can start them through a locale tool for you.
The app supports the two common tools. Install the one you prefer first; the app doesn't include them.
| Tool | Its program | How the game is started |
|---|---|---|
| Locale Emulator | LEProc.exe | With the game's own LE profile if you made one, else LE's default (Japanese). |
| NTLEA | ntleas.exe | With the Japanese locale and Shift-JIS code page. |
Set it up
- In Settings → General → Japanese locale, use Browse… to point to
LEProc.exeorntleas.exe. (If you skip this, the app asks for it the first time it's needed.) - In the Library, open the VN's page and set Launch with to Locale Emulator or NTLEA.
- From now on, ▶ Play starts it through that tool, from the Library card or the VN's page.
This only changes how Play starts the game. If you launch it from a desktop shortcut or Steam, it starts the way it always did.
